GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  THE CHIEF OF NAVAL PERSONNEL ANNOUNCES THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A NEW SUBSPECIALTY CODE 4600, HUMAN SYSTEMS
INTEGRATION, AS WELL AS A MASTERS OF SCIENCE (MS) DEGREE IN HUMAN

SYSTEMS INTEGRATION.
2.  THE 4600 SUBSPECIALTY CODE WILL PROVIDE COMMANDS WITH AN OFFICER
QUALIFIED TO ADVISE ON ISSUES RELATED TO THE APPLICATION OF HUMAN
SYSTEMS INTEGRATION AND HUMAN PERFORMANCE THEORIES AND PRINCIPLES IN
THE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF HUMAN SYSTEMS.  SPECIFIC CAPABILITIES/
REQUIREMENTS GENERALLY INCLUDE:
    A.  ABILITY TO FORMULATE POLICY OPTIONS AND DEVISE ALTERNATIVES
BY IDENTIFYING AND REMOVING BARRIERS TO INDIVIDUAL AND
ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE.
    B.  THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL UNDERSTANDING OF HUMAN PERFORMANCE
SYSTEMS MODELING, NEEDS ASSESSMENTS, PERFORMANCE GAP ANALYSIS,
SOLUTION DEVELOPMENT, AND PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT.
    C.  USE OF ANALYTICAL TOOLS TO APPLY MEDICAL FACTORS, PERSONNEL
SURVIVABILITY FACTORS AND HABITABILITY FACTORS TO APPLY TO THE
MILITARY ACQUISITION PROCESS, INCLUDING A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF
CURRENT HEALTH HAZARDS AND SAFETY FACTORS.
3.  THE ASSOCIATED HUMAN SYSTEMS INTEGRATION MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAM
IS THE FIRST AND ONLY FORMAL DEGREE PROGRAM IN THE UNITED STATES, OR
INTERNATIONALLY, TO BE OFFERED FOR HUMAN SYSTEMS INTEGRATION.  THIS
IN-RESIDENCE STUDY PROGRAM LOCATED AT THE NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL

4.  REPRESENTATIVE BILLETS FOR THE HUMAN SYSTEMS INTEGRATION
SUBSPECIALTY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, HUMAN SYSTEMS
INTEGRATION ACQUISITION SPECIALISTS AND HUMAN PERFORMANCE
RESEARCHER/ANALYSTS.
5.  ELIGIBILITY.  THE HUMAN SYSTEMS INTEGRATION SUBSPECIATY CODE MAY
BE EARNED BY GRADUATION FROM THE NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL S MASTERS
DEGREE PROGRAM IN HUMAN SYSTEMS INTEGRATION, OR BY HAVING
APPROPRIATE EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND COMPLETING A TOUR OF DUTY IN
A BILLET RELEVANT TO HUMAN SYSTEMS INTEGRATION.
