RMKS/1.  THIS NAVADMIN ANNOUNCES MAR 06 CONVENING OF THE FY06 LAW
EDUCATION PROGRAM (LEP) SELECTION BOARD.  LEP AFFORDS SELECTED
OFFICERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EARN THE DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF LAWS OR
JURIS DOCTOR AND THEN SERVE AS CAREER JUDGE ADVOCATES.  PROGRAM
GUIDANCE IS PROVIDED IN REF A.
2.  APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
    A.  HOLD A BACCALAUREATE DEGREE FROM AN ACCREDITED INSTITUTION.
    B.  BE SERVING ON ACTIVE DUTY AS A COMMISSIONED OFFICER.
    C.  BE IN PAY GRADE 0-3 OR BELOW, AND HAVE SERVED ON ACTIVE
DUTY FOR A PERIOD OF NOT LESS THAN TWO YEARS NOR MORE THAN SIX
YEARS AS OF THE TIME TRAINING IS TO BEGIN.  ACTIVE DUTY TIME
INCLUDES ALL ENLISTED AND COMMISSIONED TIME SERVED IN AN ACTIVE
DUTY STATUS.  TIME IN SERVICE REQUIREMENTS ARE STATUTORY AND CANNOT
BE WAIVED.
3.  PARTICIPANTS MUST BEGIN LAW SCHOOL PRIOR TO THE SIXTH
ANNIVERSARY OF THEIR COMMENCEMENT ON ACTIVE DUTY.  ACCORDINGLY,
APPLICANTS WHOSE SIXTH ANNIVERSARY OCCURS PRIOR TO SEP 06 MUST
ENSURE THEY APPLY TO AT LEAST ONE SCHOOL THAT PERMITS STARTING THE
JURIS DOCTOR COURSE OF STUDY PRIOR TO THE OFFICER S ANNIVERSARY DATE.
4.  ELIGIBLE OFFICERS WHO DESIRE TO APPLY FOR THE FY06 LEP MUST
SUBMIT A LETTER REQUEST NLT 01 FEB 06 VIA THEIR COMMANDING OFFICER
TO: COMMANDING OFFICER, NAVAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER (NETPDTC) (CODE N2A2), 6490
SAUFLEY FIELD ROAD, PENSACOLA, FL 32509-5204.  LETTERS SHALL FOLLOW
STANDARD DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY CORRESPONDENCE MANUAL FORMAT AND
APPLICATION PROCEDURES LISTED IN ENCL (1) OF REF A, AND MUST
INCLUDE CURRENT WORK MAILING AND E-MAIL ADDRESSES AND PHONE NUMBER.
5.  ALL APPLICANTS MUST OBTAIN APPROVAL FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE
DETAILER BEFORE SUBMITTING A COMPLETED PACKAGE TO ENSURE
ELIGIBILITY AND CONCURRENCE THAT REMAINING OBLIGATED SERVICE HAS
BEEN COMPLETED IAW REF A. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN
REVOCATION OF AWARDED QUOTA, IF SELECTED.
6.  APPLICATION PROCEDURES SHOULD BE ADDRESSED TO POC ABOVE.  ALL
