2813 ALLOWING CIVILIAN DENTISTS TO PROVIDE THE DENTAL EXAMINATION
AND CLASSIFY THE MEMBER.  ACCEPTANCE OF THE DD FORM 2813 BY NAVY
MOBILIZATION PROCESSING SITES (NMPS) DENTISTS HAS BEEN INCONSISTENT.
 2.  THE FOLLOWING HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND
SURGERY (BUMED), OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF THE NAVY RESERVE (OCNR), AND
NAVAL PERSONNEL COMMAND (NPC) AS POLICY FOR USE OF THE DD FORM 2813
IN MEETING THE ANNUAL DENTAL EXAMINATION FOR RC MEMBERS:
A.  PER REF C, EVERY EFFORT WILL BE MADE TO PROVIDE DENTAL SUPPORT
TO NAVY RESERVE ACTIVITIES (NRA) TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH THE DOD
ANNUAL DENTAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT.
B.  ALL RC MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE THE ANNUAL DENTAL
EXAMINATION PROVIDED BY A MILITARY DENTAL OFFICER AT LEAST ONCE
EVERY THREE YEARS. MILITARY DENTAL EXAMS CAN BE PERFORMED DURING
MONTHLY DRILLS BY LOCAL OR TRAVELING DENTAL TEAMS OR AT A NAVY
ACTIVE COMPONENT (AC) DENTAL FACILITY WHILE ON ANNUAL TRAINING (AT)
OR ACTIVE DUTY FOR TRAINING (ADT) ORDERS.  READINESS COMMAND STAFF
DENTAL OFFICERS AND SENIOR DENTAL EXECUTIVES (SDE) OF LOCAL
OPERATIONAL HEALTH SUPPORT UNITS (OHSU) WILL COORDINATE EXAMINATION
SUPPORT.
C.  WHEN AC OR RC DENTAL RESOURCES ARE NOT REASONABLY AVAILABLE TO

SUPPORT RC ANNUAL DENTAL EXAMINATIONS, MEMBERS MAY HAVE THE ANNUAL
DENTAL EXAMINATION PROVIDED BY A LICENSED CIVILIAN DENTIST. IN A
THREE-YEAR PERIOD, A CIVILIAN DENTIST MAY PROVIDE THE ANNUAL DENTAL
EXAMINATION FOR A MAXIMUM OF TWO YEARS.
D.  THE ACTIVE DUTY/RESERVE FORCES DENTAL EXAMINATION FORM, DD FORM
2813, WITH THE NAVY-APPROVED EXAMINATION OVERPRINT MUST BE COMPLETED
BY A LICENSED CIVILIAN DENTIST.  THE FORM CAN BE FOUND ON THE NAVY
RESERVE FORCE MEDICAL WEBPAGE BY LOGGING INTO THE PRIVATE SIDE OF
THE NAVY RESERVE WEBSITE LOCATED AT: WWW.NAVALRESERVE.NAVY.MIL, OR
IN THE DENTAL SECTION OF THE MEDICAL READINESS REPORTING SYSTEM
(MRRS), FORMERLY KNOWN AS RAMIS.
E.  MEDICAL DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE (MDR) WILL REVIEW THE DD
FORM 2813 WITH NAVY-APPROVED EXAMINATION OVERPRINT TO ENSURE
ACCURATE ASSIGNMENT OF A DENTAL CLASSIFICATION IAW REF D.  IF THERE
IS ANY QUESTION OF CLASSIFICATION, A DENTAL OFFICER SHOULD REVIEW
THE FORM FOR A DETERMINATION AND PERFORM AN EXAMINATION IF DEEMED
NECESSARY.  IF A DENTAL OFFICER IS NOT IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE, THE
MDR SHOULD CONTACT THE REDCOM FULL-TIME SUPPORT (FTS) HEALTH
SERVICES STAFF (HSS) FOR SUPPORT.
F.  MDRS WILL ENTER THE DENTAL EXAMINATION DATE, DENTAL

CLASSIFICATION, AND USE OF THE DD FORM 2813 IN MRRS.
G.  WHEN PROCESSING FOR MOBILIZATION, THE MEMBER SHALL TAKE MEDICAL
AND DENTAL RECORDS TO THE NMPS SUPPORTING CLINIC.
(1) IF THE MEMBER'S OFFICIAL MILITARY DENTAL RECORD HAS AT LEAST ONE
MILITARY T2 DENTAL EXAMINATION AND APPROPRIATE DENTAL X-RAYS, THEN
THE CURRENT DD FORM 2813 WITH NAVY-APPROVED EXAMINATION OVERPRINT
SATISFIES THE ANNUAL DENTAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT AND NO
EXAMINATION AT THE NMPS IS REQUIRED UNLESS MEMBER IDENTIFIES AN
ISSUE TO THE NMPS DENTIST.
(2) IF THE MEMBER HAS NO OFFICIAL MILITARY DENTAL RECORD, THE DD
FORM 2813 WITH NAVY-APPROVED EXAMINATION OVERPRINT DOES NOT SATISFY
THE REQUIRMENT.  THE NMPS DENTIST MUST PERFORM A DENTAL EXAMINATION
WITH APPROPRIATE X-RAYS TO ESTABLISH THE MILITARY DENTAL RECORD.
3.  MDRS SHOULD VERIFY THE DENTAL RECORDS OF ALL PERSONNEL ASSIGNED
TO THEIR ACTIVITY ANNUALLY.
A.  A MILITARY DENTAL RECORD SHALL INCLUDE:
(1) DENTAL EXAMINATION AND CLASSIFICATION WITHIN ONE YEAR.
(2) BILATERAL BITEWING FILMS WITHIN THREE YEARS IN CONJUNCTION WITH
THE MILITARY DENTAL EXAMINATION.
(3) PANO X-RAY WITHIN FIVE YEARS.

B.  TO IMPROVE MOBILIZATION PROCESSING, EFFORTS SHOULD BE FOCUSED ON
CORRECTING ANY DEFICIENCIES AND UPDATING INFORMATION IN MRRS PRIOR
